Today was a wonderful day at Great Bridge Baptist. Of course, I'm not necessarily referring to the sermon but rather to how I felt God speaking to me throughout the day. I was so inspired to see the young people who attended from Central Baptist Church in Darlington, S.C. They are in Virginia Beach this week for World Changers and I have no doubt they are going to leave a mark from Christ in our area this week. Also, we were able to recognize our own students who participated in Serve the City this past week. They worked so hard to repair homes and reflect Christ! As their pastor, I can tell you that I was so proud of them for all their selfless service and witness.
As I looked out those young faces I felt an overwhelming sense of encouragement. The youth of today seem to be very different from my generation. Todays young people seem to have a deep sense of conviction and passion to live beyond themselves and make a real and practical difference the lives of others. You can see that in the many causes that concern them and their willingness to invest their time and effort to address those issues. I have a great deal of confidence in this younger generation that they will indeed leave their mark and leave this world better than they found it!
My hope for them is that they will never forget that the greatest cause to invest in... is the cause of Christ.
